How we decide which engineering topics stay public on the forum

The forum only makes sense as a public knowledge base if useful engineering topics are not hidden behind a login. That is why our approach is to first ask whether an explanation helps people understand an infrastructure, setup or operational decision, and if it does, it stays public.

Not everything is suitable for a public post, but far more can be published than most providers assume.

A good candidate for a public topic is anything that

  • explains a technology without exposing sensitive details
  • helps a client or administrator make a better decision
  • shows a real operational approach, not just a promise
  • can be found on Google and still has value months later
This way the forum works for SEO, trust and support at the same time. Instead of sending the same instructions by hand dozens of times, they become a public topic with lasting value.
