Installing a Rust server

Rust usually runs on a Linux VPS with enough RAM, a stable CPU and free space for the game files and save data.

Main steps

• install the required system packages
• create a separate user for the game server process
• download the Rust Dedicated Server files
• set the start parameters and the ports

After the installation

After the first start, check the logs, the world save files and whether the server is reachable from outside. It is good practice to also add a scheduled automatic restart.
